The Tempest: This Island

Bold new adaptation. The Cockpit, London. April 2025

Shakespeare's classic, genre-defying masterpiece reimagined.

Five years and nine productions after their first staging of ‘The Tempest’, award-nominated theatre company Brave Mirror return with a new version of their maiden show, and Shakespeare’s final masterpiece.

This island has been Prospero’s prison for twelve years.

Her studies complete, and the island declared her own, she is ready to take revenge against those who banished her. She watches from the cliff tops as they are miraculously gathered. But life on this island prison has raised questions: is there something hiding at the frayed edge of this world? Will this strange something disrupt her plans?

Interrogating power and performance, and full of song, joy, and magic, Brave Mirror’s thrilling new adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic will play at The Cockpit in April 2025.

The production will be made sustainably using guidance from the Theatre Green Book.

Brave Mirror is an award-nominated theatre company, rooted in Bristol and London. They champion emerging artists through their shows, workshops, and events.

Chatsworth Baptist Church, an extraordinary venue – built in 1877; formed as a Church in 1878; bombed in 1944; rebuilt in 1959 and remaining a working Church and community to this day. We had the pleasure of rehearsing in their Mills Hall. More information about the Church, including room hire, can be found on their website: https://www.chatsworthbaptist.org.uk/
