maia [may • ah] is a multidisciplinary early career composer and theatre maker. At 24, she has won awards, released multiple albums and produced various highly-acclaimed theatre projects. Her practice interweaves composition, field recording, sound design, session recordings and live performance, with a strong emphasis on devising, creative collaboration and improvisation.
maia is an Associate Artist at Brave Mirror Productions, an exciting emerging theatre company with a focus on platforming other early-career artists in London and Bristol.
She is also an animator and videographer. She has worked as a sound recordist, sound designer, music editor, line editor, and production assistant across various high-budget productions. Her work on climate communications has been shown at various conferences including UNGA, COP26 and COP27.
Born in Bristol, UK, maia works across much of England and Scotland. She is currently based in Glasgow.
