Maia is a multidisciplinary early career composer working across theatre & film. At 23, they have won awards, released multiple albums and produced various highly-acclaimed theatre projects. They have worked closely with Brave Mirror since The Tempest (2019) to build the sonic world of each show. Their practice interweaves composition, field recording, sound design, session recordings and live performance, with a strong emphasis on devising, creative collaboration and improvisation. They are especially interested in cast-integrated approaches to soundtracking, generating and responding to ideas from other parts of the team to develop music that feels integral to each show. Maia is also an animator and videographer. They have worked as a sound recordist, sound designer, music editor, line editor, and production assistant across various high-budget films.
