Eliza is Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Daily Bread Theatre Company, an independent female-led theatre company staging original work on the female experience. Daily Bread recognises theatre as a ritual, prayer, church – one enters a space, shares something with their community, and leaves transformed in some way. This is their aim both in the rehearsal room and on stage, kneading the work with collaboration, joy and play. While their holistic approach invites designers into the room from day one to create original soundtracks and scenography. Eliza specialises in directing, movement, and creating a vulnerable space to facilitate ensemble connection. Outside of Daily Bread, Eliza is completing her Level Three in British Sign Language and works with Travelling Light Theatre Company as a BSL Participation Assistant for their disabled youth group ‘Louder than Words’, Eliza is passionate about embedding access into the arts from the earliest stages. She is also in her final year at Bristol University completing her BA in Theatre and Performance Studies, where she is a published undergraduate research author. Her research areas include feminist theory, D/deaf and disability theatre, the aesthetics of access, and movement ritualism. She has received acting training from Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Eliza’s theatrical influences include: Akram Khan, Gecko, Graeae Theatre Company, Ingrid Mackinnon, Pina Bausch, Sally Cookson, The Wardrobe Ensemble and Wise Children.
